Wanted on a federal warrant for the fatal shooting of Salome Rodriguez Jr. in March 2015, Mr. Henry Solis—a former LA cop—was arrested in or near El Paso, on the border of Chihuahua, Mexico this past Tuesday.
Mr. Solis, 27, reported to have been one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives, is accused of having shot and killed Mr. Rodriguez, 23. At the time, Mr. Solis was a rookie officer with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Authorities believe Mr. Solis then drove south to Texas, eventually crossing into Mexico. Victor Solis, Henry’s father, is thought to have assisted Mr. Solis in escaping to Mexico, as a surveillance photo from March 14 shows Victor and Mr. Solis crossing the Mexican border on a pedestrian path.
After purportedly telling law enforcement that he was unaware of his son’s whereabouts, the surveillance image featuring Victor and Mr. Solis together was published.
Victor has since been indicted by a grand jury for making false statements to the FBI and faces up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, if convicted. Mr. Henry Solis, now captured, will be returned to the United States where he faces murder charges.
