Long Beach Police arrested two teenaged boys in connection with the murder of a man slayed in North Long Beach in May.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the two boys, Ricardo Gonzalez, 19, of West Covina and Carlos Alexis Escalante, 18, of Long Beach, were arrested in connection with two North Long Beach shootings that happened in May and October.

Authorities stated the boys were responsible for the death of Enrique Lopez, 31, which took place on May 26. Another man was hit in that shooting and was hospitalized. Police said that Lopez and the other man were standing outside of a home when a vehicle approached and passenger fired multiple rounds.

The boys were also tied to a shooting near Artesia Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue on October 23, Long Beach Police said. Both incidents are believed to be gang-related.

Gonzalez and Escalante face charges that include murder, attempted murder, possession of drugs with intent to distribute, weapons violations and sentencing enhancements for gang involvement, according to police. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office filed charges against both men Tuesday. They are currently being held in County Jail.
