A Cypress man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of graffiti vandalism on police and school property.

Cypress police officers discovered graffiti on a SWAT vehicle in a secure parking lot on Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. The vandalism occurred overnight, according to police.

At about 6:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to Lexington Junior High School in Cypress by a report of graffiti vandalism on campus. The same graffiti symbol on the SWAT vehicle was also located on the front of the school, on the school sign and in the quad area. At 3:45 p.m. the same day, officers were again dispatched to Lexington Junior High due to a report of a suspicious person with a bandana over his face taking pictures of the school.

The suspicious person was reportedly taking “trophy” photos of his graffiti, according to police. It was determined the suspect was responsible for all four graffiti vandalism incidents. Cypress resident Mitchell Lee, 22, was arrested and booked at the Orange County Jail for vandalism. He was held on $20,000 bail.

A search warrant served at Lee’s residence turned up further evidence of both crimes. The total damage to both the police vehicle and the school property is estimated at $50,000.
